Hello lovelies! I think I said it a day ago but if you are just logging on to the blog for the first time since the new year, Happy New Year to you! Boy has it been a whirlwind right? So much has happened and as of recent, my mom (back home in Cleveland, Ohio) was diagnosed with Covid-19! She is 76 years old and a pretty tough cookie but she pulled through and I am forever grateful! I couldn’t do much but sit by the phone and wait till she called me. Once she was out of the hospital, she did give me a ring and she told me she was doing fine! I was so happy to hear her voice because I was so used to hearing it daily and I missed her. She was back to cursing, so I know she was recovering well lol.
Last year started off with a bang and then it started to decline slowly after it was announced in March that Covid-19 was really a thing! Slowly but surely I started losing gigs, interview opportunities, press junkets and I can go on and on. I became severely depressed, dropped another 15 lbs(which I really don’t need to do) and my world forever changed.
I was so used to traveling, hanging out with friends, covering red carpet events and so much more. To be stuck in the house for the most part and not being able to do my regular activities took a toll out on me for sure! I was effected tremendously, financially, spiritually and mentally. I tried my best to make the best of it but it was not working and I thought I was going to go insane. Thank goodness for really good friends, a phone and a good support system because I don’t know if I could really make it! I also got an “accountability coach” and she helped me get through a lot of dark times, emotions and stresses that I was dealing with.
I also saw so many of my friends go through breakups which was devastating to me, and I also experienced one that I didn’t think would ever happen. We ended our relationship on good terms though and that’s a good thing!
On the flip side, I got to spend a lot of time with my family and that made our unit even more closer! My grand baby Legend is doing so good and he kept me motivated and inspired during such a difficult time in the world. One thing about kids, they don’t care what’s going on, they just want to play and be happy! My daughter business actually flourished because she is a hairstylist. We all know that it doesn’t matter what is going on in the world, people are still going to get their hair done lol. When salons were closed down, Tyra just decided to make custom wigs and the demand was so GREAT for her, she couldn’t hardly keep up with it!
My son started an online business where he moderates gaming sites and he has been doing extremely well with it! He has always been an introvert, so staying home for him was no biggie lol.
I had all sorts of things in the works but they all pretty much fell through but I was able to travel a bit to get my mind off of things like to Disney and Great Wolf Lodge. Reviewed a few cars to take long drives in and tried a few new restaurants. I modeled for a few fashion brands from the comfort of my home and cooked a million new recipes. I love to cook anyway so that was fun!
We all know too that online movie streaming is the new thing and I’ve watched too many of them to remember lol! Tiger King was one of them and I enjoyed watching Disney’s Mulan and Soul. The holidays came so fast that I didn’t really feel in the mood to cook for Thanksgiving or putting up a Christmas Tree but I have a family and it was nice to fellowship with them. I also was able to have a few Girls Night In events that was fun just done a bit more carefully this time around.
One thing for sure you guys, I am still here and I am truly blessed to see another year! God kept me safe, I still have a roof over my head and my family! I can’t ask for anything more! I pray and thank God everyday for everything I have and that’s my family, good friends and people like you that support and visit the site that has been keeping me afloat! You have no idea how much you guys mean to me and thank you for always stopping by! Have a good year, love on your family and stay safe, wear your mask! Love you guys! Till next time! xoxo
