Revealed! The Top Health Factors We Always Neglect

Exercise – check. Healthy eating – check. Cutting back on alcohol – check! When it comes to health and fitness, many of us amend our diets and up our exercise intake, and while this approach is admirable, even the most fitness conscious of us are often neglecting some of the most important health factors.

While diet and exercise are important, they don’t cover every aspect of healthy living and missing out on certain health factors can mean our dedication to healthy eating and exercise isn’t as effective as we’d like it to be. Here we’ll explore some of the top health factors we’re probably all guilty of neglecting!

One: Your vision and eye health

Very few of us give our vision a second thought – until something goes wrong of course. It’s recommended that adults with no underlying health conditions receive an eye check-up at least once a year. By having your eye health checked annually, you’ll always have the right prescription lenses or contact lenses, you’re less likely to experience headaches and migraines and you’ll be able to take better steps to preserve your vision. If you can’t remember the last time you had an eye exam, book one today.

Two: Not taking your fitness to the next level

I’ve mentioned how committing to more exercise is common for those who want a healthier lifestyle, however, failing to take your fitness to the next level is incredibly detrimental to your healthy lifestyle. By failing to increase your reps, rates, intensity or the duration of your workouts, you won’t make any progress and could even reverse any progress you initially made.

Three: Dehydration

When you’re exercising and embarking on an active lifestyle, it’s easy to neglect your water intake. Very few of us drink enough fluids each day, and when we’re exercising, we often neglect to replenish the fluids we’ve lost through perspiration. This can lead to dehydration, headaches, problems with your digestion, and potential underperformance in everything you do. By setting simple reminders to take a drink, adding fruit to your water to make it more interesting or even challenging yourself to drink more each day, keeping yourself hydrated will come naturally.

Four: Stress

Stress is a killer. We spend so much time focusing on our physical health that we often neglect to take care of our mental health. We’re all living with an underlying or prominent level of stress, whether it’s financial, work-related, health, or a combination of all these factors and more, too much stress can lead to the lowering of your metabolism, increase your blood pressure and increase your risk of a heart attack and stroke. And of course, stress is the gateway to potential anxiety issues and even depression. By taking steps to remove or control the stress triggers in our lives we can remove ourselves from this vicious stress circle and enjoy a better quality of life where body and mind are balanced.

Final thoughts…

If you’re looking to embrace a healthier lifestyle, don’t forget to include the points above in your strategy.
