Sunday, May 19th, was a day filled with self-care and self-love at the 2nd annual I Love Myself Festival presented by the LA County Department of Mental Health and Project Pit, an innovative partnership platform uniting artists, brands, and organizations to deliver events that intersect entertainment with social impact. Taking place at Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza in Los Angeles, the festival honored chart-topping multiplatinum-selling artist Omarion, entrepreneur and TV personality Angela White aka Blac Chyna (who brought along her daughter Dream Kardashian and son King Cairo to share the moment with her!), comedian Pretty Vee, and more for inspiring change in the South LA community and beyond. 2nd Annual I Love Myself Festival Highlights:
Entrepreneur and TV personality Angela White aka Blac Chyna received the Transformation Award for emerging as a symbol of personal growth and evolution. During her acceptance speech, she reminded us of the importance of reaching out for help and advocated for going to therapy, especially when we feel like we are breaking from giving to those around us.
Angela shared the spotlight with her daughter, Dream Kardashian, and son, King Cairo. After taking photos with his kids at the step and repeat, chart-topping multiplatinum-selling artist Omarion accepted the honor of being named the Cultural Impact Honoree for using his platform and personal anecdotes to raise awareness, support, and promote positive mental well-being. While accepting his award, Omarion reminisced about growing up in the area and attending Audubon Middle School. He also emphasized how the I Love Myself Festival is an event dear to his heart and why attending such events is important for finding community and healing.
GRAMMY Award-nominated multi-platinum R&B singer Mario showcased his smooth vocals and delivered a nostalgic performance of classic hits, including “Break Up,” “Crying Out For Me,” “How Do I Breathe,” and “Let Me Love You.” He also passed on wisdom gained during his 20+ year career, emphasizing:
Festival attendees enjoyed a serene Garden Stage with R&B Yoga, soothing Sound Bowls by Sol & Sound, and engaging panel discussions on grief, finances, and self-care.
The Kid Zone and Sparks Zone offered fun, mindful activities like air hockey and basketball to promote relaxation and positivity, while the Mental Health Resource Village provided health screenings and access to licensed therapists.
