With deep sadness, I have to announce the passing of my beloved mother, Carolyn Parker. She left us peacefully last week on Juneteenth holding my sister’s hand. Her warmth, kindness, and love touched the lives of many. She will be greatly missed but will forever remain in our hearts. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
I’m not sure how I feel right now. I always heard the stories of people who loss their mom and now I know how that feel. I feel so alone now. I also felt really bad that I couldn’t be there when she took her last breath but she knows that she was in my heart! My mom had been sick for quite some time, starting last year. I tried to go home as often as I could.
She always loved to see me and the family and especially my grandson Legend, that was her buddy! They would talk on the phone all the time! I’m so glad that I saved my moms voicemails, I’ve been playing them daily. She would always tell me about latest fashions and what was going on in the news.
Then things started to take a turn for the worse this year and that’s when the doctors decided to put her in hospice two weeks ago. That’s when I flew home after learning the heart breaking news and tried to spend as much time with her as possible. My mom LOVED interior decorating, trying new restaurants, gardening, and shopping. While home, I took her to some fancy restaurants, she loved it. She is also the one that started the whole pink trend which was her favorite color like myself and my daughter Tyra lol.
She would always fuss at me and my sister Darlene(Fuzz) and tell us not to spend a bunch of money on her as far as her funeral. She felt like that was such a waste. So we honored her wishes and her funeral is today at Gaines Funeral Home in Cleveland, Ohio (my hometown). I got to see her for the last time yesterday and I kissed her and said goodbye. She looked so peaceful and I’m glad that she is not in any pain anymore! Rest well Mommy, We Love You!
