Taraji talks about riding a camel in Dubai, being in August Wilson’s “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone” on Broadway, what makes a good audience member, the excitement doing a live performance, not reading reviews, her hit “Straw” on Netflix, hearing from Oprah, and getting into the wine business with “7 Daughters.”
Taraji P. Henson and Cedric the Entertainer are set to co-star in a Broadway revival of August Wilson’s Joe Turner’s Come and Gone next spring.
This will mark the play’s third Broadway run since its 1988 debut, with the new production directed by the legendary Debbie Allen.
Part of Wilson’s acclaimed Century Cycle, a series of ten plays capturing the African American experience across each decade of the 20th century Joe Turner’s Come and Gone is set in 1911 Pittsburgh. The story unfolds in a boardinghouse filled with Southern migrants searching for connection, healing, and a sense of belonging. Henson and Cedric will take on the roles of Bertha and Seth Holly, the couple who run the boardinghouse.
And with Henson’s theater training from Howard University? Yeah… she’s definitely got this! See more inside…
