Legendary daytime talk show icon Sally Jessy Raphael returned to familiar territory last week when she joined Sherri Shepherd on Sherri and yes, her signature red glasses made a fabulous comeback!
Now 89, Raphael hosted her groundbreaking, self-titled talk show from 1983 to 1992, where she built a reputation for her genuine connection with audiences long before interactive daytime TV became the norm.
As she entered the studio to thunderous applause, Shepherd couldn’t help but beam, saying, “Audiences still love you!”To which Raphael warmly replied, calling the crowd her “family.”
Shepherd, who credits Raphael as one of her biggest inspirations, reflected on how watching The Sally Jessy Raphael Show which aired during the golden age of talk TV alongside Phil Donahue and Geraldo helped shape her own career.
