Jussie Takes Center Stage: Magazine Cover Reveal & Album Listening Experience

Last night I pulled up to the Rolling Out Magazine cover reveal and listening party for Jussie Smollett yes, THAT Jussie Smollett we all watched on the hit show Empire! It’s wild how you almost forget he was a singer first, but trust me, he reminded everybody real quick. The vibe at the Rolling Out studio was electric as he premiered his brand-new album, Break Out, and the crowd went crazy when they unveiled his brand-new Rolling Out cover!

Jussie sat down with Gary with the Tea and gave us the inside scoop on the music how finding peace, having real time to create, and reconnecting with himself shaped the whole project. He even opened up about life after the scandal and the overturning of his conviction. Now? He’s clearly in a healthier space, doing what he loves, and supported by someone who truly rides for him.

The music? Super chill, smooth, and classic Jussie vocals the man can sing, and that’s on period. You can hear the heart and work he put into this album, and it’s already getting love both in the States and overseas.

Between the signature cocktails, the good eats, the fashions, and the overall good vibes, it was such a fun night. So great catching up with him and soaking it all in.

He told me his whole style philosophy is simple: if he can’t be relaxed and comfortable, he’s not wearing it! He loves an easy, laid-back fit, and joked about the days when he had to squeeze into skin-tight outfits for TV.

He proudly mentioned he’s no fashionista but he did style himself for the night, keeping it cool and effortless in H&M jeans, a Saks tee, and Saint Laurent boots. He said he enjoys playing dress-up every now and then, but overall, he likes to keep things classic, clean, and comfortably safe.
