She commanded attention in a breathtaking black blazer crafted from scuba georgette, adorned with sculptural gold metal flowers and petal accents, paired flawlessly with a coordinating gown. Bassett was one of five distinguished honorees recognized during the ceremony. She received the Excellence in Arts Award, Dwayne Johnson received the Entertainment Icon Award, Jennifer Hudson was presented with the Renaissance Award, and actress-director Salli Richardson-Whitfield earned the Evolution Award. Damson Idris, star of F1: The Movie, took home the Horizon Award.

The night also included a powerful tribute to the creative force behind Sinners. The film’s Oscar-nominated stars Michael B. Jordan and Wunmi Mosaku presented the honor to producers Ryan Coogler, Zinzi Coogler, and Sev Ohanian.
