Cast of ‘The Drop’ Attend Disney’s Power of Joy Mixer At Essence Festival

As a premier entertainment sponsor of the 2026 ESSENCE Festival of Culture, The Walt Disney Company once again brought its signature blend of storytelling, creativity, and joy to New Orleans. Through immersive activations, engaging panel discussions, and appearances from some of its biggest stars, Disney celebrated the power of representation while spotlighting stories that foster connection, community, and belonging.

One of the festival’s standout moments was a special appearance by the cast of The Drop: A Snowfall Saga, who stopped by to introduce fans to the highly anticipated new FX drama. Cast members Isaiah John, Gail Bean, Asante Blackk, Peyton Alex Smith, and Simmie “Buddy” Simms III shared behind-the-scenes stories and offered an exclusive preview of the next chapter in the Snowfall universe.

Adding an extra dose of Disney magic, Princess Tiana made a surprise appearance during the interview, delighting festival attendees and bringing smiles to fans of all ages. The beloved Disney princess stopped by to greet the audience, pose for photos, and celebrate the spirit of joy and storytelling that Disney brought to this year’s festival.

Premiering September 8, 2026, on FX and streaming the next day on Hulu, the eight-episode series transports viewers back to 1990s Los Angeles, where fan favorites Leon and Wanda are determined to leave their past behind and build a brighter future. As they work to bring West Coast hip-hop into the mainstream, they’re forced to navigate the dangerous intersections of gang violence, music industry politics, and personal redemption.

Executive produced by Malcolm Spellman, The Drop: A Snowfall Saga expands the acclaimed Snowfall universe while introducing fresh faces and compelling new storylines. Alongside returning stars Isaiah John and Gail Bean, the series also features standout performances from Asante Blackk, Peyton Alex Smith, and Simmie “Buddy” Simms III.
