Queen Latifah Says Dolly Parton Made Her Chicken and Dumplings While Filming Joyful Noise Together

Queen Latifah received a huge standing ovation as she joined the show, where she opened up about her incredible career and what’s ahead.

She reminisced about working with Dolly Parton on Joyful Noise, sharing how down-to-earth and generous the legendary singer was. Latifah recalled Dolly making homemade chicken and dumplings and bringing fudge to set, while also marveling at her ability to constantly write new music.

Latifah is also celebrating a major career milestone: her upcoming induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. She admitted the honor still feels surreal, especially as she reflects on growing up listening to artists like Celia Cruz and now being inducted alongside musical icons including Wu-Tang Clan, Billy Idol, Sade and MC Lyte.

And there’s more music on the horizon! Latifah teased that she has new music in the works and said joining The Voice as a coach felt like the perfect full-circle moment. Having previously managed several successful artists, she’s excited to help emerging singers develop their talent and share their gifts with the world.
