A brand-new Bridgerton spinoff is officially in the works, and honey, this one is going to take us back to where one of the most beloved love stories in the family began!
The upcoming limited series will explore the younger years of Lady Violet Bridgerton and her beautiful romance with Viscount Edmund Bridgerton.
Yes, we’re finally getting the love story that started it all!
And as someone who absolutely adores romantic period dramas, gorgeous gowns, lavish estates and a good old-fashioned love story, I couldn’t be more excited!
Lady Violet Bridgerton Is Finally Getting Her Own Love Story!
If you’ve watched Bridgerton, you already know that Lady Violet is the loving, wise and occasionally meddlesome mother who wants nothing more than for her children to find true love.
But before she became the devoted matriarch of the Bridgerton family, Violet was a young woman experiencing her own unforgettable romance.
The new series will take viewers back in time to explore how Violet fell in love with Edmund Bridgerton, the man who would eventually become her husband and the father of their eight children.
Their relationship has always been an important part of the Bridgerton story, especially because Violet frequently speaks about the deep love she shared with Edmund.
Now fans will have an opportunity to see that romance unfold rather than simply hearing about it through memories.
I love this idea because Violet has always believed in marrying for love, and now we’ll get to discover the relationship that helped shape her outlook on romance and marriage.
Something tells me there will be plenty of stolen glances, beautiful ballroom scenes and emotional moments!
Shonda Rhimes Is Bringing the Romance Back!
Of course, you can’t have a fabulous Bridgerton story without the creative magic of Shondaland!
The currently untitled project will be written, executive produced and overseen by Shonda Rhimes and Nicholas Nardini.
Tom Verica will serve as director and executive producer, while Betsy Beers is also attached as an executive producer.
If the success of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story is any indication, viewers could be in for another emotional and beautifully told romance.
That prequel gave audiences a deeper understanding of Queen Charlotte and King George’s relationship, blending royal glamour with heartfelt storytelling.
I absolutely loved the costumes, elaborate hairstyles, beautiful jewelry and all those gorgeous period details!
And I can only imagine how fabulous young Violet’s wardrobe might be.
Give me romantic gowns, delicate embroidery, pearls, sparkling tiaras and a grand ballroom, and I’m happy!
Bridgerton Season 5 Is Also on the Way!
While we’re waiting to learn more about Violet and Edmund’s romance, the Bridgerton universe is continuing to grow.
Season 5 is currently in production in London and will shift the spotlight to Francesca Bridgerton, played by Hannah Dodd, and Michaela Stirling, portrayed by Masali Baduza.
The upcoming season follows the success of Season 4, which debuted at No. 1 on Netflix’s Global English TV list and reached the Top 10 in 92 countries.
Since its debut in 2020, Bridgerton has become much more than a popular television series.
It’s a full-blown cultural phenomenon!
From romantic storylines and unforgettable characters to beautiful costumes and modern music performed with a classical twist, the franchise has captured the imaginations of viewers around the world.
And let’s not forget the fabulous fashion inspiration!
Bridgerton Has Made Regency Romance Fashionable Again!
One of my favorite things about Bridgerton is how the series has inspired people to embrace a little more romance and elegance in everyday life.
We’re talking afternoon tea parties, beautiful floral arrangements, elaborate tablescapes, pearl accessories, romantic dresses and dreamy home décor.
Basically, all the things I already love! Lol!
The series has also inspired immersive experiences like The Queen’s Ball: A Bridgerton Experience, candlelight concerts and themed merchandise that allow fans to bring a little Regency-era magic into their own worlds.
As a woman who loves high tea, fascinators, beautiful dresses and anything that makes me feel like a princess, I completely understand the obsession.
There’s just something magical about dressing up, enjoying a lovely cup of tea and pretending you’ve been invited to the most exclusive ball of the season!
And with Violet’s love story coming to Netflix, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see even more romantic fashion and Regency-inspired celebrations.
My Thoughts: Give Me All the Romance, Darling!
I have to say, I’m really looking forward to this new chapter of Bridgerton.
Lady Violet has always been one of my favorite characters because she believes so deeply in love, family and finding happiness.
Even after experiencing heartbreak, she continues encouraging her children to follow their hearts.
That’s such a beautiful quality.
And now that we’ll get to see her younger years and the romance she shared with Edmund, I think viewers will connect with her character on an entirely different level.
Plus, I’m already imagining the costumes!
I’m hoping for gorgeous pastel gowns, romantic hairstyles, elaborate garden parties and enough sparkling jewelry to make any princess jealous.
Shonda Rhimes, please give us all the romance, drama and fabulous fashion!
The new Violet and Edmund Bridgerton spinoff is currently in development at Netflix. An official title, cast and premiere date have not yet been announced.
