Ms. Pat Keeps It Real, Hilarious and Unapologetically Herself
If there’s one thing about Ms. Pat, she is going to keep it all the way real and somehow make you laugh while doing it!
The comedian, actress and author recently returned to the show for a hilarious conversation about marriage, family, travel, motherhood, menopause and her ever-growing career. Known for The Ms. Pat Show and her courtroom series Ms. Pat Settles It, she also has a new book, Ms. American Dream, out now.
Right from the start, the conversation turned to her husband, Garrett, whom she has been married to for an incredible 33 years. The two recently teamed up for her YouTube cooking series, Whiskin’ It All With Ms. Pat, where they recreate recipes together and judging by the clip shared during the interview, their kitchen chemistry is just as entertaining as you’d expect!
33 Years of Marriage & Plenty of Personality
Ms. Pat joked about Garrett’s tendency to hold onto things he probably should have gotten rid of by now, including his wedding ring. She explained that she would love to upgrade his ring after 33 years of marriage, but Garrett has sentimental reasons for keeping the original.
The story behind that first ring? Classic Ms. Pat. She hilariously revealed that she purchased it during her younger years by forging a check, joking that she was essentially getting herself into a little trouble for a good cause.
But beneath all the jokes, you can tell there’s genuine history and love between the couple.
There’s Always Room for One More!
Family is also a huge part of Ms. Pat’s life. She revealed that she recently gained custody of three more nieces, bringing the household to around 14 people under her roof.
And when you have that many people to feed, dinner isn’t exactly a small production!
She joked that cooking for her household is more like catering, which is one of the reasons she enjoys making her cooking show. Her philosophy? If you’re coming over to her house to cook, you’d better prepare enough food to feed about 20 people!
A Family Trip to Japan
Ms. Pat also opened up about taking 25 family members on a trip to Japan, something she described as a beautiful experience.
She wanted to give the kids an opportunity she didn’t have growing up, but there was one little problem—they were more interested in their phones than sightseeing!
Her solution was hilarious: she collected everyone’s phones and gave them portable cameras instead. The only issue? Many of them had no idea how to use the cameras.
The family enjoyed plenty of noodles and sushi, while Garrett took a slightly different approach to the vacation he reportedly spent most of the trip at the Four Seasons eating!
Ms. Pat joked that he could have stayed home if he wasn’t going to explore Japan. But apparently, Garrett had his own vacation itinerary: eat, relax and eat some more.
Ms. Pat Is Busier Than Ever!
With seven new kids in her household, grandchildren and multiple television projects, Ms. Pat admitted that life is pretty chaotic these days.
She’s also working on a new comedy hour called “Raising Chaos,” inspired by her very full and very busy life.
And her career continues to move full speed ahead. The Ms. Pat Show recently wrapped its sixth season and has earned four Emmy nominations. Meanwhile, Ms. Pat Settles It is returning for a fourth season, and she has a new project, America’s Funniest People, coming to VH1.
Oh, and she’s also a published author!
Her Latest Chapter
Ms. Pat’s second book, Ms. American Dream, is available now and promises the same unfiltered humor and storytelling that fans have come to love from her.
During the interview, she shared a glimpse of the book’s message, reflecting on the idea of America as a place where anyone can pursue their dreams and promising to tell readers how her own journey really unfolded.
From comedian to actress, author, judge and television personality, Ms. Pat has certainly built a career by doing things her way.
And judging by this interview, she isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
One thing is guaranteed: wherever Ms. Pat goes, the laughs are coming with her!
