Sofia Carson Became Friends with Jamie Lee Curtis After Meeting at the Oscars

Sofia Carson recently shared the touching story of how she met and became friends with Hollywood icon Jamie Lee Curtis.

“Jamie Lee Curtis is truly one of the most extraordinary souls,” Carson said. “She’s remarkable and we love you so much, Jamie. I feel so lucky to know her and to call her a friend.”

The two first crossed paths at the 2022 Oscars. “I had just finished an interview and Jamie Lee was walking in. She didn’t know who I was, but she took my hands and said, ‘I don’t know who you are, but I think you’re very special,’” Carson recalled. “She walked me to the steps of the Dolby Theatre and said, ‘I need you to sit down I want to take a photo of you.’” That unexpected, heartfelt moment sparked a connection that later continued online, forming the foundation of a genuine friendship.

Carson also spoke about her upcoming film, My Oxford Year, an adaptation of the bestselling novel of the same name. “It’s a love story between Anna and Jamie a story that reminds us just how precious life is. It’s about living fully, with love, joy, and purpose,” she said. “Because in the end, it truly is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.”
