Before I get into the fashion and celebration, I have to say how proud I am to see hometown legends continuing to make history. As someone who’s from Cleveland, I know firsthand that the city can be a tough place to grow up, so watching Bone Thugs-N-Harmony rise from those streets to global success has always been inspiring.
Bone Thugs-N-Harmony just added another unforgettable milestone to their legendary career, receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame during a special ceremony held on Wednesday, July 8.
It was a proud full-circle moment as all five members Krayzie Bone, Bizzy Bone, Layzie Bone, Wish Bone, and Flesh-N-Bone stood together to accept one of entertainment’s highest honors. Seeing the entire group together, healthy, and celebrating this achievement made the occasion even more meaningful.
The ceremony brought out some major names, including Fat Joe, Ice-T, radio personality Big Boy, Katt Williams, Lil Eazy-E, Ray J, and Ras Kass. During his speech, Ice-T praised the group’s groundbreaking sound, noting how they changed hip-hop by seamlessly blending rapid-fire rap with melodic harmonies. He also joked about hearing their unique style for the first time and wondering, “Where did these guys come from? Cleveland.”
Each member took a moment to thank their families and the loyal fans who have supported them throughout their incredible 30-plus-year journey.
After signing with Eazy-E’s Ruthless Records in the 1990s, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony helped put Cleveland hip-hop on the map and became one of the most influential rap groups of their generation. They dominated the charts with E. 1999 Eternal and The Art of War, while their heartfelt tribute to Eazy-E, “Tha Crossroads,” spent eight weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1996.
Congratulations to Bone Thugs-N-Harmony on this well-deserved honor. Cleveland is incredibly proud, and this star is a reminder that no matter where you come from, greatness can reach Hollywood.
