Mariah Carey recently opened up about her son Rocky’s latest obsession and it’s not what you’d expect. “Rocky is into gaming and hanging out with his friends, things like that,” she shared. “Now, he’s gotten a new pet. He already has two cats one was supposed to be Roe’s, but he ended up taking care of it. Now, he’s worn me down and convinced me to let him get a tarantula. I will never take possession of that thing. No offense to all the people who love bugs.”
The iconic singer also reflected on the moment she and her mother realized she had a gift for music. “My mom was an opera singer, so she was always practicing singing in German, Italian, all kinds of languages,” Carey recalled. “One time, she was rehearsing and made a mistake. She stopped, and I just continued the line she was singing. I was about four years old. That’s when she said, ‘Okay, I guess she’s got an ear!’”
After a seven-year break from releasing new music, Mariah is gearing up for her much-anticipated album Here For It Alland, of course, her legendary “It’s Time” holiday rollout. “Usually, I write albums pretty quickly I just go with how I’m feeling in the moment and move on,” she explained. “This time, I was busy traveling and performing, so I didn’t have as much free time to work on a new project. But I’m preparing for ‘It’s Time’ again, working with my friend Joseph Kahn. We have some fun ideas because it’s almost time!”
